Designer/mother living in New York

If you’ve ever seen a girl in an absolutely to-die-for, brightly colored, fun, bikini, caftan, or cover up, there’s a decent chance Mara Hoffman designed it.

Mara’s borderline psychedelic designs are the summer-wear of every girl’s dreams. Perfectly placed cutouts, and silhouettes ranging from the sexy and strapless to the flowy and bohemian comprise Mara’s namesake collection. We can see the influences of “nature, travel & color” in every design.

She launched her line in 2000 and cites “Getting to be a creator and to work with awesome people,” as her favorite part. When she has down time though, she can be found “With my two-year-old son and my husband.“

The designer’s daily essentials include “one of my Indian or African scarves, my beat up black moccasins, my denim jacket I’ve had for 20 years, La Mer Oil Absorbing Moisturizer, and my collection of Margiela split-toes.

She’s new to Bib + Tuck, but says excitedly “There are a few things I have my eye on!” This summer she’s looking for “A new pair of sandals…but I haven’t found the perfect pair yet.” Bib it up, guys.

Since we like to take notes on our faves’ faves, here are some of Mara’s: inspirations include “No Country For Old Men” and artist Frida Kahlo, she calls “French Vogue,” (her favorite glossie) saying “it is always beautiful and inspiring.” Her favorite book? The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, and she’s currently got “Cutoff” by Misun on repeat.
